NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens Likely to Shop Forward
According to Stu Cowan, the Montreal Canadiens will likely try to trade Jonathan Drouin this season if there's interest.
Drouin has started this regular season as a healthy scratch and is also in the final year of his contract. The 27-year-old also carries a $5.5 million cap hit, so there's a real chance that the Canadiens would need to retain some of his salary in a hypothetical swap. With that, he also has a three-team no-trade list. That's easy to work around, though.
When at his best and healthy, Drouin can be a decent point producer, and that is why there could be some interest in his services. In 34 games last season for Montreal, he had six goals to go along with 14 assists.
