NHL Rumors: Oilers & Coyotes Emerging as Potential Trade Partners
The Edmonton Oilers have had a somewhat disappointing start to the 2022-23 season. Although a 2-2 start isn't terrible, it is underwhelming given their status as contenders. It's clear that they have weaknesses defensively, and this could be enough for GM Ken Holland to go all-out to acquire Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
Chychrun has been linked to the Oilers since his name hit the rumor mill, and Edmonton's start to the season is only heightening the noise on that front. Offensively, the Oilers are golden, but they absolutely could use help on the left side of their defensive group. Adding Chychrun would be the perfect way to help remedy this situation.
With the Oilers being in win-now mode, they are in a position where they can part ways with the Coyotes' asking price for Chychrun. Let's see if these two can strike an early-season blockbuster from here.
