NHL Rumors: Wild Linked to Coyotes Star Defenseman
According to Adam Proteau of The Hockey News, the Minnesota Wild are a team to watch in the Jakob Chychrun sweepstakes because of their horrible start to the season.
Proteau immediately noted that the Wild is a "longer-shot contender" to acquire Chychrun, but there's no question that they could use a defenseman like him. The Wild have started the season with a 0-3-0 record but have more notably allowed a whopping 20 goals during them. If this trend continues, the Wild will need to do something big to save their season.
The Wild have limited cap space, so they would surely need to move out salary in any move centering around Chychrun. Proteau noted that Matt Dumba could be a player sent the other way, but they would also of course need to include an array of prospects and draft picks. Regardless, this is a pretty interesting rumor to pay attention to. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the Wild are already starting to get into that territory.
