Philadelphia Flyers Flyers Sign Defenseman to Big Extension
The Philadelphia Flyers have made a big move, as they have signed Travis Sanheim to an eight-year, $50 million ($6.25 million AAV) contract extension. It will begin during the 2023-24 season.
It was reported that extension talks between Sanheim and the Flyers were picking up, so it isn't all that surprising to see a deal now finalized. With this move, Philadelphia has officially convinced one of their best defenseman to stick around long-term and at not too outrageous of a price. Now, the 26-year-old will remain a Flyer for several more years to come.
Sanheim has appeared in 336 career games since being selected by the Flyers in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, where he has 29 goals and 116 points. It will be fun to see how much these numbers change from here.
