Philadelphia Flyers Place 2 Players on Waivers
The Philadelphia Flyers have made some cuts to their preseason roster, as Kevin Connauton and Troy Grosenick have been placed on waivers.
Connauton joined the Flyers through a waiver claim last season from the Florida Panthers. In 39 games between the two clubs, the 6-foot-2 defenseman had one goal and two assists. At this juncture of his career, the 32-year-old is probably best described as being a depth defenseman. In 360 career NHL games, he has 28 goals and 80 points.
Grosenick's placement isn't all that surprising. The Flyers are heading into this season with Carter Hart and Felix Sandstrom as their one-two punch in goal. Should he claim waivers, Grosenick will be slated as the club's third-string netminder and play for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He certainly is a good goalie for them to have, as he is coming off of a season with the Providence Bruins that saw him sport a 16-6-4 record, 2.00 GAA, and .933 SV% in 30 appearances.
