Pittsburgh Penguins Place Defenseman on Waivers
The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Mark Friedman on waivers.
The 26-year-old's placement on waivers isn't the most surprising of developments. The Penguins are heading into the season with an abundance of NHL-caliber defensemen, and Friedman is probably best described as being a seventh d-man. Therefore, if he gets claimed, he is a player who they can replace.
Friedman appeared in 26 games for Pittsburgh last season, where he had a goal and five points. Overall, he proved to be a solid depth guy, so perhaps he could get some interest on the waiver wire from here.
