Rangers Sign Defenseman
The New York Rangers have signed Ben Harpur to a one-year contract.
Harpur signed a PTO with the Rangers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, two weeks ago. Now, it's clear that he has impressed during it, as he officially has a contract for the 2022-23 season. It is important to note that this is an NHL contract, as it means that Harpur is permitted to be called up at any time by the Blueshirts.
Harpur now gives the Rangers another decent depth defenseman with a good amount of NHL experience. With that, the 6-foot-6 defenseman plays a heavy game, so think of him as the replacement for recently departed d-man Jarred Tinordi.
In 19 games this past season with the Nashville Predators, Harpur had an assist and 27 penalty minutes.
