San Jose Sharks Sign Defenseman
Before training camp, the San Jose Sharks signed Scott Harrington to a PTO. Clearly, the 29-year-old defenseman has impressed, as he has now earned himself a one-year, two-way deal from the Sharks.
Now that Harrington is officially signed, he will be aiming to earn himself a spot on their NHL roster for the season. The Sharks' defensive depth isn't particularly strong, so there's some belief that he could be in the running for a bottom-pairing or seventh d-man role.
Harrington played in seven games for the Columbus Blue Jackets last season, where he had an assist and a minus-4 rating. He primarily played with their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, however. In 50 games with them, he had three goals and seven points.
Overall, this is a decent depth signing for the Sharks. Let's see if Harrington begins the season on their NHL roster from here.
