Tampa Bay Lightning Place Defenseman on Waivers
The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed Sean Day on waivers.
Day played in his first two NHL games last season, where he sported a minus-2 rating. With the Syracuse Crunch, he certainly contributed well from the point, as he had eight goals and 40 points in 69 games. That wasn't a bad season at all, and it could be enough for a rebuilding club to take a chance on the 24-year-old from here.
Day was once viewed as a potential top prospect, as he was given Exceptional Player Status, which gave him the opportunity to play in the OHL a year early. However, he has never developed into a top-flight defenseman in this league, but it does seem that he has the potential to possibly become a bottom-pairing defenseman in the future. Maybe that will be enough for a team to claim him.
