Toronto Maple Leafs Place 4 Players on Waivers

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Wayne Simmonds, Adam Gaudette, Kyle Clifford, and Victor Mete on waivers.

Simmonds' placement on waivers isn't surprising, as it was recently announced that Toronto has informed the league that the veteran winger is available via trade. The 34-year-old is coming off of a 16-point season in 72 games played.

Gaudette has seen some time in the Maple Leafs' top six this preseason, but that ultimately wasn't enough for him to earn himself an NHL spot. In 58 games this past season with the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators, he had five goals and 14 points.

Clifford appeared in 25 games last season between the St. Louis Blues and Maple Leafs, scoring a goal and adding three assists. In nine games with the Toronto Marlies, he had three goals.

As for Mete, he was a quiet depth signing by the Leafs this offseason. In 37 games last season with the Ottawa Senators, he had seven assists.
