Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Forward
Zach Aston-Reese has made a good enough impression on his PTO to earn himself a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as the 28-year-old has signed a one-year, $840,630 deal with the team.
Aston-Reese had himself a strong preseason and clearly caught the attention of the Leafs. Forwards like Kyle Clifford, Wayne Simmonds, and Adam Gaudette were all placed on waivers on Sunday to help this contract come to fruition. Now, the Leafs officially have Aston-Reese set to play in their bottom-sixbottom six for the season.
Aston-Reese now gives the Leafs a strong defensive forward who can kill penalties. He also chips in occasionally offensively, as he is coming off of a 15-point season in 69 games split between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks. Let's see how the Staten Island native performs as a Leaf from here.
