Vancouver Canucks Release Defenseman from PTO
The Vancouver Canucks have released Danny DeKeyser from his PTO.
DeKeyser signed a PTO with the Canucks shortly before the start of training camp. The 32-year-old just completed a 10-year tenure with his hometown Detroit Red Wings, where he scored 33 goals and recorded 146 points in 547 games. Yet, after recording an 11-assist season in 59 games with Detroit last season, he did not get much interest as a free agent. Now, he is officially heading right back to the open market without a contract offer from Vancouver.
With plenty of teams dealing with injury trouble, it doesn't seem out of the question that DeKeyser could find a home before the start of the regular season. The Toronto Maple Leafs are specifically looking for defensemen, so perhaps they are a team to watch from here.
