Video: Andrei Kuzmenko Scores First NHL Goal
Andrei Kuzmenko was one of the Vancouver Canucks' most notable offseason additions this year. In his first game with the club on Wednesday, he lived up to the hype, as he scored his first NHL goal.
Several teams were in on the Kuzmenko sweepstakes this offseason and when looking at his stats from last season in the KHL, it made sense. In 45 games with St. Petersburg SKA, the 5-foot-11 winger scored 20 goals and recorded 53 points. Now, he is starting his North American career on the right foot and will be aiming to translate this kind of offense to the NHL from here.
Yet, it was a bad night for the Canucks, as they blew a 3-0 lead to the Edmonton Oilers and would lose by a 5-3 final score. Vancouver will be aiming to turn things around on Saturday when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers on the road.
