Washington Capitals to Sign Forward
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Washington Capitals are going to sign Sonny Milano to a one-year, $750,000 contract. With that, he will be hitting the waiver wire, as the Capitals are planning to have him start the season in the AHL.

This Milano situation is continuing to get more intriguing. The 26-year-old winger is coming off of a season that saw him score 14 goals and record 34 points in 66 games with the Anaheim Ducks, but it took him until mid-October to find a home. Yet, now he is starting the season in the AHL if he clears waivers, and it's just surprising to see a player have this kind of season but not a guaranteed spot in the NHL.
It certainly is possible that another club could elect to claim Milano. A $750,000 cap hit is an easy one to take on, but if he clears, he will be beginning the year with the Hershey Bears.
