3 Players Placed on Waivers
Three players have been placed on waiver today (Nov. 9). Mike Reilly (BOS), Nikita Zaitsev (OTT), and Magnus Hellberg (OTT) are the latest to hit the waiver wire.
Reilly's placement is likely an indicator that star defenseman Charlie McAvoy is very close to returning. Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters on Wednesday that he believes that McAvoy will be playing within a week. Thus, the Bruins needed to clear up cap space for him, so Reilly is, unfortunately, the player hitting the waiver wire again. In 10 games this season, he has an assist.
Zaitsev has had a rough go of things this season with the Ottawa Senators, so perhaps this placement is on we could have predicted. In seven games on the season, he has an assist to go along with a minus-3 rating. With the Senators desperately trying to get their season back on track, it makes sense for them to make a change such as this.
With Cam Talbot returning, it is understandable that Hellberg is on the wire. The Senators claimed him off waivers from the Seattle Kraken earlier this season, so don't be surprised to see them take him right back.
