Capitals Forward Likely Done for Season

Washington Capitals forward Connor Brown has undergone ACL surgery and is highly unlikely to return this season, as reported by Nick Kypreos.

When it was first announced that Brown was injured, the Capitals made it known that it was going to be a long-term ailment. Now, we have been given better clarification regarding his condition, and it truly couldn't have been much worse.

Brown is in a contract year, so he was hoping to put together a strong campaign for the Capitals. Now, it is more than likely going to end at just four games, where he had zero points and a minus-3 rating. That will surely hurt when it comes to negotiations this offseason, even with Brown being a solid middle-six winger.

The Capitals may have to consider browsing the trading market early. Besides Brown being done for the year, T.J. Oshie, Nicklas Backstrom, and Tom Wilson are all out, too. This is a forward group that is truly decimated, so let's see if a trade is on the way from here.
