Colorado Avalanche Sign Forward
The Colorado Avalanche have signed Alex Galchenyuk to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
Galchenyuk originally signed a professional tryout with the Avalanche for this year's training camp, but an injury, unfortunately, led him to be released. Avalanche management made it known that they would consider bringing him back when healthy, and they did just that when they later inked him to an AHL tryout. Now, it's clear that the 2012 third-overall pick impressed during it, as he has officially landed this deal for the year with the Avalanche.
With Colorado dealing with several injuries with their forward group, it makes sense that they are now taking a chance on Galchenyuk. The 28-year-old is coming off of a season that saw him record 21 points in 60 games for the Arizona Coyotes. While playing at his best, he can provide decent secondary scoring. It will be intriguing to see if he can find his old form playing for the reigning Stanley Cup champs from here.
