Colorado Avalanche Winger/Defenseman Out Several Weeks

The Colorado Avalanche will be without Kurtis MacDermid for the next six weeks due to a lower-body injury.

MacDermid left Saturday's game early, and now we have been provided with a better understanding as to why. This development is tough news for an Avalanche team that is already dealing with multiple long-term injuries. Although MacDermid is not a star, his ability to play both defense and the wing makes him a valuable depth player. With that, his toughness and grit are always appreciated.

In eight games so far this season, MacDermid has one assist, 22 hits, and 14 penalty minutes.

In response to MacDermid's injury, the Avalanche have called up Sampo Ranta and Jayson Megna.
