Concerning Update on Maple Leafs Jake Muzzin
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin has been out for a few weeks after sustaining a neck/head injury early on this season. While the hit didn't look too worrisome at the time, with Muzzin's track record of concussions, it unfortunately has sparked a debate regarding if it's safe for him to return to hockey.
TSN hockey insider Chris Johnston shed some light on the matter via Insider Trading and had this to say about the very latest with Muzzin:
Cont'd: "If there is a Jake Muzzin size hole in their line up they got a need there for a defenceman and they got more cap space to play with".
— NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) November 3, 2022Sheldon Keefe says there is no update on Jake Muzzin. Says his departure has had an effect on the team. “Significant absence. You can see our penalty kill hasn’t been the same.”

The 33-year-old is on LTIR and it appears this could be for the entire season. We'll have to wait and see what comes out of the latest tests, but it does sound like the Maple Leafs have been making calls trying to acquire a veteran defenseman who can help their lineup immediately.
We wish Muzzin nothing but health and happiness and hope things work out for him and his family.
