Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid Traded = Twitter Hoax
The new Twitter verification system is going to drive sports fans nuts. The latest, a 'verified' Connor McDavid account sent out a Tweet that he's been traded to the New York Islanders.
Don't worry Oilers fans, we all know that wasn't the case at all, however the Twitter world is going nuts as several people were stooped and tried sharing the 'breaking news' from the verified, blue check-marked account.
Hello @elonmusk, you have a problem with your "verified" system. This is a nightmare. https://t.co/dHLwaJTTbD

Good on Frank for calling it out to the big boss. Let's see if Elon does anything about this and makes changes, because if he doesn't, there's going to be a lot of angry sports fans who don't initially realize the trade their freaking out about, is false.
This is not Connor McDavid. https://t.co/bE3gG4KUat

And another impersonator, this one again impersonating a sports celeb. Again — once the scammers figure out this works it will next be impersonating election officials, emergency services, crypto platforms/banks, tweeting out false info to move markets. https://t.co/uBrseENVXK pic.twitter.com/szHawmY78c
