Former Vancouver Canucks Forward Heading Overseas
Former Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen has signed a two-year deal with EHC Visp of the Swiss second division.
Virtanen signed a PTO with the Edmonton Oilers before the start of training camp, but it did not lead to him landing a contract for the year. The 26-year-old winger remained a free agent following it, but now that we're a month into the season, he has decided to take on this opportunity to play overseas.
With this being a multi-year deal, we are not going to see Virtanen back in the NHL until at least the 2024-25 season (if ever). If this ends up marking the end of his NHL career, Virtanen had 55 goals and 100 points in 317 games with the Canucks.
