Maple Leafs Captain Chirps Devils Fans After Litter Debacle
The Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils game from Wednesday night was a wild affair. The Devils had their 13-game winning streak ended, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. The team scored three different times and had each goal called back. Two for goaltender interference and one for kicking the puck in the net.
Devils fans attending the game were growing more pissed with each call that was going against them, even though the kicking motion and second goalie interference call was quite obvious to the naked eye. After the third goal was reversed, this happened...as fans in the building started pelting the ice with beers, pops, and an assortment of litter:

Of all the Maple Leafs to meet with the media after the game, it was the soft-spoken John Tavares who piped up and made sure Devils fans knew the Leafs were thinking about them after the game.
Tough night for the Devils, having their 13-game winning streak snapped, but an even tougher look for the fans in attendance.John Tavares said it was disappointing to see litter thrown on the ice: it felt better to beat the crowd than the Devils tonight.

#NJDevils forward Erik Haula on trying to get fans to stop tossing things on the ice: "I kind of tried to wave to (the fans) to stop (throwing things) but I think I got hit with a chicken finger during that time too ... so whatever."
