NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres to Shop Defenseman

It has been another disappointing season for the Buffalo Sabres. After starting the season off hot, they now sport a 9-12-0 record and are destined to be sellers at the deadline because of it. As a result, one pending UFA who will likely be on the move is Lawrence Pilut.

After spending the last few years in the KHL, Pilut returned to the Sabres for this season. So far, the 26-year-old defenseman has been fairly quiet, as he has one assist to go along with a minus-2 rating. However, given his cheap cap hit ($750,000), there's a good chance that a playoff team will be open to acquiring him for added depth.

Alas, it will be intriguing to see what happens with Pilut from here.
