NHL Rumors: Canucks Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

The Vancouver Canucks are off to a 2-5-2 record, and changes are likely on the way because of it. One player who is starting to enter the rumor mill due to his expiring contract is Luke Schenn.

Although Vancouver has been bad this year, Schenn has been a surprising bright spot. In nine games on the year, the defensive defenseman has four assists. That is solid production from the 32-year-old, but more importantly, he has been defensively responsible and very physical, as his 36 hits show. Playoff teams would love to add him to their bottom pairing because of it, so expect to see a market form for him in the near future.

The Canucks could also get a decent return for Schenn if he continues to play this well moving forward. Keep in mind, he also has a very affordable $850,000 cap hit, and that will only heighten interest in his services.
