NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Shopping for Specific Need
The Edmonton Oilers are active on the trade market. General manager Ken Holland is trying to do what he can to acquire another forward for his bottom-six, and according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, a forward with some edge.
The Oilers are getting pushed around a bit this season and without Evander Kane in the lineup and with the departure of Zack Kassian, the team needs some more toughness. An interesting trade candidate is Wayne Simmonds of the Toronto Maple Leafs, meanwhile the Oilers have Ryan Murray who may interest in the Leafs.
The Oilers have defensive coverage issues so expect their acquired forward to be someone who is responsible defensively. The team sits fourth in the Pacific division with a 11-10-0 record on the season. If they want to be taken seriously as a Stanley Cup contender this season, they will need to improve their bottom-six and it sounds like Holland and the rest of management are doing their best right now, working the phones, and making some offers.
