NHL Rumors: Oilers & Coyotes Emerging as Trade Candidates
The Edmonton Oilers are looking to add some grit and toughness to their bottom six. They were linked to Ryan Reaves before he was dealt to the Minnesota Wild, but they have a better option to help fill this need in Arizona Coyotes winger Nick Ritchie.
Ritchie has been very solid for the Coyotes since being traded there by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the truth is in his stats. In 44 games since being moved there, he has 16 goals to go along with 24 points. Overall, it is apparent that he has the ability to provide decent secondary scoring, so he could be a very good fit for the Oilers. With that, the 6-foot-3 winger plays a very heavy game, so he would give Edmonton more bit.
Alas, we will have to wait and see if these two teams do business. The Coyotes would need to retain salary in a hypothetical move, but they would likely be open to it if it means landing a little something more in return.
