NHL Rumors: Oilers & Maple Leafs Becoming Possible Trade Partners
It's no secret that the Edmonton Oilers have been looking to add a bit of grit to their bottom six. They were linked to Ryan Reaves before he was traded to the Minnesota Wild, and Chicago Blackhawks forward Sam Lafferty is the latest player reportedly on their radar. However, another player who they could end up making a push for is Toronto Maple Leafs winger Wayne Simmonds.
The Maple Leafs have been looking to trade Simmonds and have even placed him on waivers twice this season. Yet, the 34-year-old is still with Toronto at the time of this writing, but one has to wonder if the Oilers could decide to make a push for him. At this point, they could likely land him for future considerations.
If the Oilers acquired Simmonds, it would give them a very experienced winger to play on their fourth line. With that, his toughness would be greatly appreciated. It will be intriguing to see if the Leafs and Oilers end up doing business with each other from here.
