NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators to Shop Defenseman

The Ottawa Senators are once again near the bottom of the NHL standings. This is truly disappointing given their offseason of spending, but alas, they will likely be sellers at the trade deadline again. One player who will likely be on the move because of this is Travis Hamonic.

Hamonic is a pending UFA and is likely to get interest around the league from contenders as a rental. The 32-year-old is a solid shutdown defenseman who could work well on a playoff team's bottom pairing. With that, he comes with over 700 games of NHL experience, so that also should lead to teams being interested in acquiring him.

In 21 games this season, Hamonic has two goals to go along with two assists. We will have to wait and see where the St. Malo native ends up from here.
