NHL Rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins Discussed Multiple Trades
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been 'active' on the trade market early on this season, but so far it's just been talk. Nothing has transpired after the team tried to move defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph during and shortly after training camp. Joseph appears to have found a home on this roster, however the same can't be said for forward Kasperi Kapanen.
Kapanen has been a healthy scratch the past two games, two Penguins wins over the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs. The 26-year-old is under contract for this season and next, at a $3.2 million cap hit.
Kasperi Kapanen healthy scratched for a second straight game. Makes $3.2 million this season and next. Only 26.

The Canucks gotta be in desperate mode, GMJR has overpaid for Kasperi Kapanen once before, why not try it again 🤷🏼♂️

Kasperi Kapanen had a wide-open net on his strong side of the ice and somehow missed the yawning cage.

Just brutal. He's got to take advantage of those opportunities to even somewhat justify his cap hit.
In 12 games this season, the speedy winger has scored once and added five assists. He's coming off back-to-back 11 goal seasons and was rewarded with a multi-year contract last July. Appears the Penguins are having second thoughts as he's now in the coach's doghouse and doesn't appear to be a candidate for the lineup any time soon.
Expect to see a move from the Penguins these next couple of weeks while they try to ship out Kapanen and likely have to package him with a mid-round draft pick or one of their extra defensemen.
