NHL Rumors: Washington Capitals Likely to Trade Forward
The Washington Capitals are rapidly falling out of the playoff race, and that is entirely unacceptable for a team that was expected to be among the Eastern Conference's top teams. At 7-10-3, they have a major uphill battle ahead of them, and they aren't showing signs of improvement. They have won just two out of their last 10 games and are more likely to be sellers at the deadline if this continues. As a result, one pending UFA who will likely be on the move is Marcus Johansson.
Johansson will certainly get interest on the trading block, as the 32-year-old provides solid secondary in a bottom-six role. With that, he fits anywhere in the lineup, as his immense versatility allows him to play all three forward positions. Given all of this and his plethora of NHL experience, contenders will surely have him on their radar come deadline time.
Johansson has had a pretty solid year in 2022-23 thus far, as he has four goals and eight points in 20 games. We will have to wait and see where the 13-year veteran ends up going from here.
