Ottawa Senators Making Multiple Trade Offers
According to hockey insider Elliotte Friedman, the Ottawa Senators are trying to acquire a defenseman. This coming days after the team waived veteran Nikita Zaitsev and have apparently lost star blueliner Thomas Chabot long term.
There will be more on Chabot's injury later in the day as details emerge. The Senators have been working the trade phones for months, unfortunately to this point no luck. Ottawa hasn't been as successful as they expected after a very busy summer. The team sits with a 5-8-1 record on the season, good for last in the division.
The Senators have just under $5 million in current cap space and have room to add a significant defenseman. The rebuild is over and the time is now to pounce in Ottawa, so expect to see management aggressive throughout the next few weeks, trying to make a move while teams establish if they're going to be buyers or sellers. No doubt about it, the Sens are buying.
