Red Wings Rumors: Dylan Larkin Out, Bo Horvat In
The Detroit Red Wings have become a team to watch as management feels the team is close to getting over the hump. The Wings are off to a decent start at 4-3-2 on the season as the young club looks to take a giant step forward in 2022-23.
According to Toronto Star's Nick Kypreos, one scenario in Detroit could see Dylan Larkin leaving town and Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat landing in Motown. There's been several reports the Red Wings and Larkin are not close to a contract extension and apparently Larkin is looking for a deal very similar to the one Mathew Barzal signed with the New York Islanders for $9.5 million per season.
Kypreos feels Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman would be more interested in landing Horvat at a cheaper price than sticking with Larkin long term at an expensive cap hit close to $10 million per season.
As for Horvat's future in Vancouver, apparently there's been a low-ball offer made and the relationship isn't the greatest between the player and management. Kypreos had this to say:
The consistent message I’ve heard is that it had to do with Horvat rejecting a low-ball offer that wasn’t even close to what other comparable centers earn
Keep an eye on these two teams as it sounds like if big changes don't take place this season, they certainly will next summer.
