Senators Send Defenseman Back Down to AHL
The Ottawa Senators recently called Dillon Heatherington up to the NHL roster, but now he is heading right back to the AHL.
Unfortunately, Heatherington did not appear in a game for the Senators during his call-up. The 27-year-old joined the Senators due to their injury trouble on the blue line. Yet, he will now be back with the Belleville Senators where his solid defensive play and immense physicality will be welcomed with open arms.
Heatherington has played in 20 career NHL games over his four-year career and nine of them came last season for the Senators. He will continue to be a decent call-up option for Ottawa when injuries arise, so don't be surprised to see him back with the NHL squad at some point this season.
