Tampa Bay Lightning Claim Forward Off Waivers
The Tampa Bay Lightning have claimed Rudolfs Balcers off of waivers from the Florida Panthers.
When it was announced that Balcers was hitting the waiver wire, it seemed likely that another club would take a chance on him. After all, the 25-year-old winger is coming off of a 23-point season in 61 games and carries a very affordable $750,000 cap hit. Now, that has officially come to fruition, and he is joining the other side of the Battle of Florida.
Balcers will provide the Lightning with another depth forward at a minimum. However, if he can find the offense he had last season, he could be a decent bottom-six option for them. Either way, there’s no real harm in taking a look at him.
In 14 games this season, Balcers has two goals and two assists.
