Toronto Maple Leafs Provide Updates on Muzzin & Brodie
The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that Jake Muzzin will be out indefinitely due to a cervical spine injury. The veteran defenseman will be re-evaluated in February. With that, TJ Brodie has been placed on injured reserve due to an oblique injury.
Muzzin has not played since October 17th's contest against the Arizona Coyotes and was expected to be out long-term. Now, we have a better understanding of a specific timeline, and it is just such bad news for both the player and the team. When healthy, Muzzin is an extremely important part of the Leafs' blue line, and they will likely aim to acquire a defenseman because of it.
Brodie's IR placement means that he will be out for at least a week. Another important part of the Leafs' blue line, this is not ideal news. In 15 games this season, the 32-year-old has recorded two assists and sports an even rating.
The Leafs have also called up Mac Hollowell and Pontus Holmberg to their NHL roster.
