Calgary Flames Defenseman Blames Himself for Latest Loss
Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar was not happy with his performance against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. Weegar felt he played so bad that he was the lone reason his team loss 3-1.
Weegar did have a costly turnover which led to eventual game-winner for the Blue Jackets. The Flames blueliner didn't mince words after the game and had this to say to the media:
I'll take full responsibility on that loss. Tough play in the second period, and we got caught chasing the rest of the game, in the box a lot, just a shitty effort by myself. (The puck) got caught between my feet, and I just tried to make a play that wasn't there. It was clearly not there, it was a bad play. Just a good, old-fashioned f------g pizza
Flames head coach Darryl Sutter echoed Weegar's message as Sutter called out the defensive struggles and even went as far as saying some players just came for a visit and weren't trying to win a hockey game.
Here's the play that kept Weegar up last night..
