Florida Panthers Call Up Forward
The Florida Panthers have called up Chris Tierney to their NHL roster on an emergency basis. The Panthers were permitted to call up Tierney on an emergency basis because they played last game a player short. With this, his cap hit will not be carried over while he is with the NHL squad.
This is a grand opportunity for Tierney to show the Panthers that he is still capable of playing at the NHL level. The 28-year-old is coming off of a down season with the Ottawa Senators that saw him score six goals and record 18 points in 70 games. Once a 40-point player, it's clear that the Keswick native's offense has fallen off in recent years, but let's see if he can change that with Florida.
If Tierney impresses, it very well could lead the Panthers to call him up in a regular manner after this emergency call-up passes. Alas, time will tell what happens on that front.
