Speaking on MacKinnon's status, Avalanche's head coach Jared Bednar said he is ''very close'' to returning, and although he will not play on Thursday versus the Los Angeles Kings, there's a very good chance he returns in a big game on Saturday against the Maple Leafs.
The return of the twenty-seven-year-old is an obvious boost for the Avs, who have managed to go 6-3-1 in his absence, with five of those wins being one-score games.
Through 23 games this season, MacKinnon has eight goals and 26 assists for 34 points.
