Jets' Mark Scheifele Comments on Beating Ex-Coach
The Winnipeg Jets defeated the Florida Panthers on Thursday night and if you ask Jets forward Mark Scheifele, this victory tasted a little bit sweeter as the team was able to defeat ex-coach Paul Maurice.
Maurice resigned abruptly after he came to the realization his messaging was no longer getting through to the players. The Jets hired Rick Bowness and the rest is history as the Winnipeg dressing room is loving their new leader.
Scheifele commented after Thursday's big win and had this to say about getting two points off of Maurice and the Panthers:
I'm not going to lie, that was a good win in my books. Pretty happy with that one. At the end of the day, we've moved on. We're a different team this year than we were last year. It's been exciting for a lot of us. You see the rejuvenated faces in this room. (Head coach Rick Bowness) has really been on us a lot each and every day. Whether it's a good game or a bad game, he's always looking to help us. I think it's been awesome for me, it's been awesome for a lot of us. After not reaching 30 goals last season, Scheifele is on pace for over 50 this year and has taken a keen interest in playing for Bowness. Don't sleep on the Jets ladies and gentlemen.
