New Jersey Devils Defenseman Out Weeks

The New Jersey Devils were given some brutal injury news as defenseman John Marino will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. Marino suffered an upper-body injury and will try to rehab things quickly to get himself back on the ice.

After an offseason trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins, which surprised many, Marino has been a stud for the Devils. Through his first 32 games, Marino has recorded nine points and is a plus +11 rating. He's playing over 21 minutes per game and has done a great job leading the team's penalty kill unit.

Marino is signed long-term, through the 2026-27 season, making $4.4 million per season. He was dealt to the Devils for defenseman Ty Smith and a draft pick. Smith has been stuck in the minors for the Penguins and the deal had a lot to do with dumping salary in Pittsburgh.

New Jersey has reeked the benefits and Marino will look to bounce back with much of the same performance once his upper-body injury heals over the course of the next couple of weeks.
