New York Islanders Lose 2 Forwards
The New York Islanders have placed Kyle Palmieri on injured reserve. It is retroactive to Nov. 21. Cal Clutterbuck, on the other hand, will be out day-to-day because of an upper-body injury.
Due to his IR placement being retroactive to over a week ago, the veteran winger will be able to return to the lineup whenever he is healthy. However, it also could be an indicator that the 31-year-old is set to miss more time, and that is not ideal given his importance to the club. In 20 games on the year thus far, he has six goals and nine points.
As for Clutterbuck, the Islanders will certainly miss his gritty style of play while he is out. Although he only has three points in 22 games this campaign, he also has a whopping 85 hits already. Needless to say, he has been a force, and it will be hard to replace his physicality.
Cole Baudreau and Hudson Fasching have been called up to the NHL squad in response to these injuries.
