NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets Center Becoming Trade Candidate

The Columbus Blue Jackets are a young team and still a few years away from competing. They have to let their young players grow and gain experience before they can be expected to make a significant jump and turn around the franchise. That being said, the team will be selling this season and a new potential trade candidate has entered the fray.

Frank Seravalli reported that there have been some rumblings of late that the Blue Jackets are curious about the trade market for Jack Roslovic. Columbus' centerman has one year remaining on his deal after this season and has a cap hit of $4 million. It may be a little bit of an overpayment this season considering Roslovic has just three goals and 14 points in 26 games, but he is playing on the second line.

On a Stanley Cup contender, Roslovic would be a third line centre at best, and that would be the best place for him. There are easier matchups and he would be able to produce a bit better. He would be a long-term rental, but worth it if a team were to acquire him. He hasn't exactly been what the Blue Jackets had hoped after re-signing him and the team has a couple of young centres on this rise ready to surpass him.

Don't be surprised if Roslovic is someone teams go after and the Blue Jackets are willing to move before the trade deadline this season.
