NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

Before the start of the 2022-23 season, the Buffalo Sabres named Kyle Okposo as their captain. However, with the veteran winger being a pending UFA and not currently having extension talks with the Sabres, there is a legitimate chance that we see him dealt before the trade deadline passes.

Okposo would certainly get attention on the trade market if available, as the 34-year-old has gotten his career back on track after suffering several injuries. After putting together a 45-point campaign in 74 games last season, Okposo has 10 points in 17 games so far this year. Overall, he would be a solid addition for a contender looking to beef up their bottom six and to add another leader to their group.

The Sabres would need to retain some salary to get this deal done. It will be intriguing to see if the Sabres end up moving their captain at the deadline.
