NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche Looking to Fill Specific Need via Trade
The Colorado Avalanche are expected to be busy on the trade market this season and they look to go back-to-back with Stanley Cup victories. When it comes to needs on their roster, look for general manager Joe Sakic to try and fill in some more depth down the middle.
The Avs are going through some serious injury troubles at the moment, so that's certainly put a new wrinkle into player movement. Sakic will monitor how his team performs with some big names out of the lineup, including Nathan MacKinnon and reasssess from there.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had this to say on the Avs recently:
Do believe Colorado is going to make a big push for a centre, but not convinced it will be now. All their injured players are coming back, so they’ll sort out the cap situation first.
Some trade targets who have already been linked to the Avs include Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks, Ryan O'Reilly of the St Louis Blues, Sean Monahan of the Montreal Canadiens and Max Domi of the Chicago Blackhawks.
