NHL Rumors: Flames and Canucks Could Pull Off Blockbuster Trade

According to Rick Dhaliwal of Chek News, the Calgary Flames have kicked tires on Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser. The two teams have been in constant contact over the course of the past week as trade interest in Boeser has increased dramatically.

Even though Boeser is only 25 years old and signed for the next two seasons at a reasonable cap hit of $6.65, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet is reporting the team will accept less trade return if it means they can create more salary cap flexibility.

Vancouver has the Boeser trade to worry about at the moment and they also have captain Bo Horvat unsigned for next season and could potentially be trying to create more available money for Horvat moving forward. It's crazy to think the Canucks may have neither on their roster at the start of next season.

As for Boeser, he's recorded 16 points in 20 games so far this season and does not hold any trade protection on his contract. The Canucks are not willing to retain any salary in this trade and last game had close to 20 scouts in attendance. This trade is a matter of when and not if at this point.
