NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs Considering Big Trade
According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, the Toronto Maple Leafs have held some internal discussions on the possibility of trading for St Louis Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly.
The Blues sit with a 14-15-1 record and are likely heading to become sellers before the March 3 trade deadline. O'Reilly is a pending unrestricted free agent who has a decorated career to this point and could really help the Maple Leafs get over the top.

So far this season, 'The Factor' has recorded 15 points in 30 games and has bounced back these past few weeks after very slow first month to the season. His 56 games in 64 Stanley Cup Playoff games to go along with his Stanley Cup experience which includes a Conn Smythe trophy is more what the Leafs are worried about over regular season stats.
The price tag would be massive as O'Reilly will be coveted by a lot of teams. He makes $7 million against the salary cap and does not have any trade protection. If he is moved this season, expect to see the Maple Leafs right there down to the wire with a trade package that includes a young roster player, a top prospect and a draft pick.
