Philadelphia Flyers Place Goaltender on IR
The Philadelphia Flyers have placed goaltender Carter Hart on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. The team announced the transaction on Wednesday.
Hart started last Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes and only lasted 10 minutes in the team's 6-5 loss. He left the game injured, missed practice on Monday and now finds himself on the shelve for at least a week.
Hart, the Flyers clear #1 option has recorded a 10-11-6 record this season to go along with a .911 save % and a 2.89 goals-against average. Philly now turns to Felix Sandstrom and Samuel Ersson to fill the void while Hart is on the sidelines, as fans scream they should have added more depth last summer.
The Flyers were busy on Wednesday as they have also recalled forward Olle Lycksell from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Carter Hart suffers a likely concussion. Coach says Tuesday he'll make the trip with the #Flyers. Wednesday morning the GM says Hart will go on IR. An hour later, Hart is on the ice practicing. @AntSanPhilly reports Hart will not make the trip. Make it make sense. #FueledByPhilly pic.twitter.com/0xKbus5dLO
