Toronto Maple Leafs Call Up Forward
The Toronto Maple Leafs have called up Joey Anderson from the Toronto Marlies. This comes after Nick Robertson suffered a shoulder injury and Pierre Engvall's date with NHL Player Safety.
Anderson has been excellent for the Marlies this season, as he has 11 goals and 19 points in 21 games. Once again, the 5-foot-11 forward has made a big impact at the AHL level, but he has not received too many chances with the Leafs since he arrived in 2020-21. In six games for the Leafs over that span, he has zero points. Now, he will be hoping to record his first point as a Leaf during this call-up.
This is a grand opportunity for Anderson to show the Leafs that he is ready for more NHL chances. If he performs well, perhaps a bottom-six role could be in the cards for the 24-year-old. Alas, time will tell on that front.
