Video: Mitch Marner Makes Maple Leafs' History
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner set a franchise record on Saturday night in Tampa Bay as he scored a beauty shorthanded goal, good for his 19th straight game with a point.
Marner has been on an absolute heater these past few weeks and continues to dominant the on both sides of the puck. Marner's record now puts Maple Leafs legends Darryl Sittler and Ed Olczyk into second place in franchise with their 18-game streaks.
Marner spoke to the media after the game and talked about how much the record means to him considering he grew up around Toronto and a Maple Leafs' fan:
I grew up in this city," he said postgame. I love being a part of this team nowadays. It’s special to me. It’s special growing up to watch this team play hockey and now to have my name in something - pretty amazing.
