Washington Capitals Call Up Goalie
The Washington Capitals have called up goaltender Hunter Shepard to their NHL roster.
Shepard's call-up is in response to fellow netminder Darcy Kuemper leaving the Capitals' last game early with an injury. As a result, it makes sense that the Capitals are bringing up Shepard for insurance just in case Kuemper is too injured to serve as the team's backup this week.
Shepard has been simply excellent for the Hershey Bears this campaign, and the truth is in his statistics. In eight games played, he sports a 6-0-2 record, 1.83 GAA, and .932 SV%. If he is given the chance to play while with the NHL squad, we will have to wait and see if he can replicate those totals with the Caps.
